Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina

The Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina will debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elégance. The car is a one-off commissioned by James Glickenhaus, the American collector with a yen for the legendary racing cars of the Sixties.

“This project – comments Andrea Pininfarina, Pininfarina S.p.A. Chairman and CEO - represents an exciting challenge, i.e. trying to meet the Customer’s requests in the best way possible without deteriorating the company’s approach based on stylishness and innovation”.

The car has been designed, engineered and built entirely by Pininfarina, bringing to life something that, just a few months earlier, was just a dream and creating a sort of symbiosis between the customer and Pininfarina along the path leading to definition of this astonishing model. Starting from a Ferrari Enzo, the aim was to produce a sole vehicle inspired by sport racing cars with extreme vocations: not just a show-car but a vehicle to be enjoyed on the road.

After freezing styling with various touch-ups to the initial sketches, the surfaces were defined using CAS modeling, then moving on to actual construction and assembly. More than 200 components were specifically developed through constant interaction between styling and design: from the bi¬xenon lighting clusters specifically designed with an innovative system of yellow and white leds to the alloy wheels – 20-inch aluminum – milled from the block up to and including the aluminum and special steel in-sight hinges.

The sleek lines of the vehicle, characterized by a soft muscular touch, took shape on the body – made entirely of carbon fiber. The tapered profile of the nose highlights both its aerodynamic function and the car’s new look; the central body is dominated by the single-shell windscreen, while the car is accessed via two butterfly type doors. The rear features powerful sides with the embedded teardrop type transparent rear window which also acts as engine cover and from which ceramic-coated exhaust tips peep out, as on racing cars of the Sixties. “The entire vehicle – stresses Ken Okuyama, Director of Pininfarina Styling – expresses elegance and fluidity with the clear-cut, uncluttered lines that are typical of Pininfarina’s style.

Considerable attention has been dedicated to aerodynamics with continuous testing at the Pininfarina Aerodynamic and Aero-acoustic Research Center of Grugliasco (Turin, Italy) in an effort to reach the highest levels of performance combined with perfect functionality of all the appendices integrated in the body of the vehicle.

It is important to stress how re-styling was not restricted only to the outside of the car but continued also when defining the interior, completely redesigned according to the customer’s indications.

“Pininfarina has been a strong stakeholder on the automotive scene for many years, as confirmed by the five new productions launched between the end of 2005 and 2006: Alfa Romeo Spider, Mitsubishi Colt CZC and Ford Focus CC for which we also followed up design and development, and Alfa Romeo Brera and Volvo C70 which we also engineered. The Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina and the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti “K” by Pininfarina – built for Mr. Kalikow and presented in April at Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance - give us a chance to demonstrate our excellent creativity, making our know-how available to special customers in order to provide a real personal experience that goes well beyond simply the possibility of designing their own car” concludes Andrea Pininfarina.

Nissan 350Z Roadster

The Z Roadster shares all of the hardtop Z’s key performance features. Power is provided by the 3.5-liter VQ35DE V6 engine used in the Z Coupe, producing 287 horsepower and 274 lb-ft of torque, a power range that comes as a result of the engine’s intake port design and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) technology. This enables the engine to deliver not only outstanding start-off acceleration and high-speed passing performance, but also torque characteristics suitable for city driving.

XEIGEN Formula Aerodynamic 350Z

The Formula aerodynamic kit completely replaces the factory bumpers and different parts, not just another cheap lip spoiler. The larger grille is functional. Uses factory mounting points for easy installation with no drilling required. Shipped ready to paint. This front bumper is delivered with aluminium grids, screw and adhesive and the assembly instructions.

9ff Porsche Cayman CR 42

There is no doubt: All our understanding begins with experience. What else should awaken our intellect if not objects appealing to our senses, producing, on the one hand, ideas all by themselves, while, on the other hand, inviting our intellectual capacity to compare, associate or to divide them in order to transform the raw material of our sensory impressions into the sort of understanding called experience?

Titles, records and everyday work are experiences which have brought 9ff to an understanding that gave birth to the idea of creating this homage to our senses.

The clear, no-nonsense, but nevertheless powerful design of the CR42 is a clear mirror reflecting the philosophy of the small-series manufacturer from Dortmund.

The two-seater convinces in every respect by its love for detail. First to mention are the excitingly designed and very light disc wheels equipped with a patented central locking system and the precisely adjustable chassis comprising any imaginable component and, last but not least, the attached parts partially manufactured from carbon.

But, the 9ff CR42’s highlight is hidden deep inside the mid-engined sports car: A 4.1L flat engine generously offering its 420hp as well as its powerful 435Nm of torque. This is the basis for thrilling driving performances and a superior power development vaporising any benchmark in its segment

The 9ff Cayman masters the sprint of prestige to 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, and about 10 seconds later, the CR42 already passes the 100mph mark.

Even the smaller engine version – with a displacement of 3.8 litres – outshone all its competitors with its performance during a comparative test at AMS.

The understanding gained there may by now be experienced through the 9ff CR42.

Supercars Limited Hulme.F1 Champion

It is Denny Hulme's success which has motivated Supercars Limited to make a New Zealand supercar in his honor. Coordinating the design team is Tony Parker, Associate Professor and head of the Industrial Design department at Massey University. ''New Zealand has established a reputation for building the best yachts in the world. I believe we also have the technical capabilities and the industrial infrastructure to create a quality, hand built performance car,'' says Parker.

Mercedes CL65 AMG

While the AMG CL63, the normally aspirated V-8 hot-rod version of the Mercedes-Benz CL coupe, was certainly a head-turner with its 518 bhp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, those with a hankering for a bit more punch will be rewarded for their patience by waiting for the launch of the CL65, the AMG-tuned version of the 12-cylinder CL 600.

This twin-turbo V-12 monster produces 612 bhp and a whopping 737 lb.-ft. of toque, which Mercedes says is good for a 4.4-second (0-100-km/h mph) run. The 6.0-liter V-12 engine is coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission, instead of the 7-speed found in the CL 63, the massive torque of the engine makes those two extra gears superfluous.

From a design standpoint, there's little to distinguish the AMG 65 from its 63 counterpart other than badging, or if you were one of the lucky 20 to secure the limited-edition AMG 40th Anniversary models, which are painted in Alubeam, a paint that makes the body look like liquid metal. In keeping with its anniversary, only 40 are being built and America gets half, a nod to the fact that the U.S. is responsible for almost 50 percent of AMG's output.

The amazing feature of the CL65 is the civility it displays in normal motoring. It has all the high-zoot accouterment found in the CL the diamond-patterned stitching in the seats is a tip-off that this is no ordinary coupe. And if you're feeling on the sporty side, there's an optional carbon-fiber trim package that applies accents made of this material both inside and outside the car.

The real nature of the beast, however, is found beneath your right foot. Floor the pedal and the CL65 surges forward with turbine-like thrust. The specially tuned exhaust lets out a satisfying growl, and objects in the rearview mirror are not only smaller than they appear, but disappear altogether quite quickly. Tweaks to Mercedes' body-control system give the car a slightly tauter and tighter ride; there's not much body roll to speak of for such a massive sedan. This is a car designed to gobble highway miles with alacrity. As a flagship for the AMG and Mercedes brands, the CL65 hits all the right notes.

TECHART 997 TURBO

Technology and Art.The TECHART individualization program for your Porsche 911 Turbo. Only if artisan tradition, sophisticated engineering and passionate accuracy are perfectly orchestrated, can the result be of masterly quality. A work of art such as a Steinway & Sons Grand Piano. Or a masterpiece such as the Porsche 911 Turbo. Both of these are exceptional. Invaluable. Virtually perfect.

But for all that, a Grand Piano does not agree with its pianist until it is individually tuned and intoned. Just like a sports car does not agree with its driver until it becomes set up according to his personal demands. But from this point forth, an instrument as well as an automobile bears a unique signature. TECHART adds your signature to your Porsche 911 Turbo.
